Thank you 2010 and welcome 2011!!

I just finished work this year and now I'm having my last mocha in 2010:)
2010 was really meaningful year for me. I think it was most important and massive year in my life.
I met many wonderful people, learned many things, experienced more than many things.
It was not just fun and there were many tough things but still I want to remember every single things I had this year. That's why I didn't have "Bonenkai" this year (Japanese year-end party which means forgetting year party)... lol

I don't know what's going on next year and of course I'm afraid of my future but at the same time I'm getting how to believe myself a little by little.
Now I don't have stable life like I was dreaming of when I was a child but I could smile a lot this year and I want to keep doing that. And hopefully if I can make everyone smile, that would be great!!!
Like this dog who I met on the street today.

Ground was not perfect but even on the ice, he could made me smile.
And he knows what he wants. He's waiting for his owner in the store. And just keep seeing straight.
Just keep my head up and just walk straight like my name...!!!
(My name Ayumi "歩" means "walk" in Japanese.)

And thank you sooooooooooo much for everyone who I met this year and also who I couldn't see this year but all of my friends and family.
You made my life happy:)
Hope everyone has HAPPY NEW YEAR and see you in 2011!!!!

Love, Ayumi

Blizzard in NY

When I came back to NY from Philadelphia, I couldn't believe what I saw.
Manhattan was what I imagined but in Brooklyn was more than that....
I couldn't see our table in our yard because of the snow....
And 3 days have past but still there is tons of snow!!!

Christmas in Philadelphia 3

I supposed to go home on Sunday night but because of the snow my bus was canceled and all Monday buses were canceled too. So I changed plan and stayed there 2 days longer.
But longer stay made me harder to leave there... that much I love this family and this neighborhood:)

Christmas in Philadelphia 2

On Christmas day we had a dinner party so we cooked fillet mignon, garlic mash potatoes and sauteed brussels sprouts with walnuts. They were all good and it was fun night!!

Christmas in Philadelphia 1

I was in Philadelphia for Christmas holiday with my American family.
Last time also I spend Christmas there and it was second Christmas for me to be there.
It was like going back home once a year.

On Christmas eve
I took bolt bus to Philly. It only takes $13 for one way and also it takes only 2 hours from NY!!

After I got to Philadelphia we went to church. This is my 4th time to come this church. Always everyone welcome me with warm smiles.

Seersucker

Just 3 minutes from my home there is nice restaurant!!
Seersucker
http://www.seersuckerbrooklyn.com/

Chef Richard who is instructor of NGI invited me to their dinner with other NGI students.
It was nice meeting everyone!! I have been working pastry shop for almost one year and I have been out of NGI atmosphere and food talk for a while.
So it was very interesting to hear about their Friday night dinner, food, health and working in restaurant...
And food there were so good.
I past by that restaurant everyday but finally I could try.

Pastries these days...

At home I was baking cheese cakes because Yvone Christa ordered me another cupcakes!!
So I wanted to mix some new thing!!
Some people likes these cheese cakes more than cupcakes but they were all Japanese I guess.
But other people prefer red velvet....
Ummmm it's really interesting to see how everyone react for sweets....
Everyone has different tastes but here in America, I always found many times how much cupcakes are popular.

And at work I was making French macaroons this weekend...
Raspberry flavor and Pistachio flavor....
I miss macaroons at Cordon Bleu...
