Eclairs

Here in NY I don't see eclairs much like in Japan.
But sometimes I crave to eclairs.
So this time I made some at home.
It reminded me Chef Kawamichi from LCB Kobe.
I used to see his making eclair at work and that made it easier to make them:)

  1. I hear you can't find what we call "chu cream" in France but is it true?
    How about eclair?

In Japan there are so many foods which seem to be from overseas but actually not, or much different from the original ones.

    Hamburg?(hamburger patty)
    Spaghetti Neapolitan?

I wonder how these typical Japanese diner menus became popular in Japan.

Oops I might have gone off from the subject.

Do you have any plan to add your eclair to your shop menu?
    I'd love to try.

    1. Thank you for the comment:) Here, chu cream is "cream puffs". I don't see much both cream puffs and eclairs but still some pastry shops have them.
And same things can be said in here too. For example, sushi is so different from Japan. American made their original sushi and still they call them Japanese food. So I think every countries do the same to make them to fit with their tastes. Also sometimes it's hard to get all the ingredients from the original so they have to do it.
And no, eclairs won't be our menu in the shop. My owner has her strong opinion about menu and we have to stick to American pastry a little bit Italian taste so it's hard to sell there what I want. But this week I could make Maccha green tea french macaroon for the first time:)

  2. Thanks a lot for your detailed reply!

Maybe you could sell your own menu at Smorgasburg or Amsterdam market some day.

Let me check your blog and post comment sometimes!
