New York Aquarium

The first time to visit New York Aquarium in Coney Island.

They've been closing long time from hurricane Sandy and unfortunately still it was rebuilding and  recovering.
So they reopened but we only could see only some parts.
But still I enjoyed to see all the fishes swimming relaxed and also a sea otter was glooming his body and face.
I didn't know how we call sea otter in English till then.
I was surprised how it's not cute!! lol
In Japanese we call them "Rakko", and I like how it sounds and it matches to how cute they are!!
Anyway, I hope they will rebuilt and recover as soon as possible and I can't wait to see every fishes and animals there!!
先日、初めてコニーアイランドにあるニューヨーク水族館に行ってきました。
ハリケーンサンディーの影響でずっとクローズしていたのですが、やっと部分的に再オープン。けれど今回公開されたのはほんの一部分。
それほど被害がひどかったということなのでしょう。
けれど、少しでもお魚たちがゆっくりと泳ぐ姿やラッコが体をグルーミングしている姿を見るのは、とっても心癒されました。
そして、ラッコ、ラッコと思っていましたが、英語ではSea Otterということを知り、なんともかわいげのない名前と、がっかり。。。
そして”ラッコ”のもつこのサウンドがあのかわいい姿にぴったりだな〜と改めて感心してしまいました。
早く水族館全体が復旧し、もっといろいろ見られる日が来る事を願って！！
また近々行こうと思います。

Finally I could try their brunch the other day.

I've been working all weekends for long time so I've never had brunch before except the hurricane day!! And now I have Sunday off sometimes. 

What I wanted to do was going to have brunch like American!! haha

And their brunch was really good as I expected.

We ordered both savory and sweet pancakes.

Savory one was that day's special.

There were fennel, onion and some more veggies in the pancake and topped with soft poached egg, asparagus and some ricotta cheese.

And strawberry pancake was so good with lemon butter.

It was just enough sweet without maple syrup.

Ahhh only reminding these pancakes make me hungry again!!

Some cakes from work

Today I delivered 10 cakes that I made yesterday to Martha Stewart Wedding studio. 

It was really interesting to see how they work. And happy to be a part of it. I can't share pictures till September so I put some pictures of recent cakes from work. I had to go back to work after that so I couldn't stay to see how they shoot the cakes but even that short time, I enjoyed being there and talked to many talented artists. Many things are going on these days but luckily I got many opportunities and I'm learning a lot:)

今日は、仕事でマーサスチュアートウェディングの撮影スタジオに昨日作成したケーキを10個配達してきました。ケーキをボードの上からケーキスタンドに移して、少し手直しをするというだけの作業だったのですが、どのケーキをどのスタンドに乗せるのかなど、カメラマンさんやデザイナーの方々などが話し合っている中で、彼らの要望を聞きながら、少し手直しをしていくのは、とても興味深かったです。そのあとも仕上げなければ行けないオーダーが山積みになっていたため、撮影を見る事はできませんでしたが、短い間でもとてもいい経験になりました。最近忙しさは尋常じゃありませんが、いろんなチャンスにも恵まれて、いろんな経験をしながら、毎日学んでいます。

残念ながら雑誌発売が９月予定ということなので、写真はシェアできませんが、最近のケーキの写真を替わりに…。

Colonie in Brooklyn

Last week I went to this amazing restaurant,

First when you enter the restaurant, you'll see the EXIT sign but this side is "EAT"!!! Isn't it cute?
I fell in love with this restaurant at once when I see this sign:)
And when you go inside of restaurant you will see the open kitchen... yes, this is perfect!!
We sat the corner of open kitchen where was all the order were coming out.
So we could see all the plates and also we could talk to the chefs what were their recommendations.
Most of menus were very interesting so we couldn't chose by ourselves and it was really helpful to see how they looked on the plates and also chefs favorites.
Also they gave us some samples even after we made a decision.
That was how we should enjoy the food!!!
It was fun experiences and also all the dishes were so tasty!!
It was after 11 hours working at work. I was so tired but this dinner and good time with my friend made me so happy and made my day so satisfied....

先日コロニーというレストランに行ってきました。
まず入って目に飛び込んで来たのが、"EXIT"のサインが"EAT"に…。
もちろん反対側は"EXIT"でしたが。。。
この時点で、すでに私のお気に入りに、決定。。。早っ！！
そして奥のレストランに入って行くと、オープンキッチンになっており、調理仮定がすべて見えます。私たちの席はその一番端っこだったのですが、それはまさにオーダーが入ってきて、すべてのお料理が出て行くところ。キッチンを見ながら出来上がったお料理をすべて見ることができて、本当に見ているだけで忙しかったです。
そしてシェフも目の前にいるため、どれがおすすめか、また今出て行ったお皿は何のメニューかなど、質問もでき、とっても楽しかったです。
それでもなかなか注文が決められなかったりすると、注文した後でもさらにサンプルまで出していただけて、相当ラッキーでした。
これぞ、食事を楽しむ醍醐味！！
なんとも贅沢な時間を大好きな友達と過ごすことができました。
その日はとても仕事が忙しく、１１時間休憩なしで走り回っていたので、まさにがんばったご褒美という感じで、食事の後半は幸せすぎて、にやけながらの１時間でした。
けれど目にも口にもお腹にも、そして頭にもとっても大満足な食事となり、幸せ一杯で帰ることができました。
連れて行ってくれた料理学校時代からのお友達ステファニーに感謝！！！
