Morimoto

Today I had a day off so I went to Morimoto for lunch because now it's restaurant week!!!
http://www.morimotorestaurant.com/

There were three kinds of bento boxes wagyu beef, black cod and vegetable for restaurant week menu. So I chose wagyu beef one.
I went there by myself so I could seat on counter table. It means I could see some sushi chefs were making sushi.
It was fun to see them because their hand moving was so fast and I could tell they were professional!! But they looked all Japanese but everyone was speaking in English which was funny for me. Maybe they grew up in US.
Anyway, while waiting for my bento box, I saw their work and I expected so much for my lunch box but that bento box was not that great.... unfortunately. I'm so sorry to say this but everything was too salty for me even miso soup and grilled wagyu so it was difficult to feel the taste of ingredients by themselves... and tempura had cheese dipping sauce and that killed the taste of tempura... sushi was good though...
Maybe I felt this way because I'm Japanese and I expected Japanese food so I should not tell this but it was not what I expected...:(
Dessert was green tea panna cotta and this was good!! But I didn't need coffee maple syrup sauce...
Green tea should not be together with coffee flavor...
I must be annoying customer... lol
And after lunch I asked green tea. In Japan even in US, tea is free most of the time at Japanese restaurant but after I got check, I found it was $8... lol

I didn't have chance to try Japanese restaurant in New York so when many friends asked me where is good Japanese restaurant I couldn't answer them. Still I can't answer them either but I learned many things today.

I think if I go to Morimoto again and just order a la carte menu then it would be different and they must have many good dishes. So you should not judge them with my blog. This is just my tiny opinion...
So if you have chance to go there or already went there, let me know your impression!!!
The atmosphere of restaurant and staff were so nice:)
