Jiro Dreams of Sushi at IFC center

Today finally I went to IFC Center to watch the movie "JIRO Dreams of Sushi".
http://www.magpictures.com/jirodreamsofsushi/

It was documentary movie about Sushi chef Jiro.
But it was not only about him but about his sons, fish dealer, his employees and others...
That's why this movie became so interesting.
When I saw Tuna dealer who looked familiar to me, he was on the Japanese show "professional".
Many professionals, Shokunin were in this movie.
And show us how they work, how they feel about work, food and family.
I'm so glad to see this movie.
And I definitely recommend you to watch!! Who work for food, who do work, and who will work soon and of course food lovers!!

After that show I went to Blue Ribbon Sushi in my neighborhood which supposed to be good one.
(I went to their Manhattan restaurant and I really liked there so I just went there straight after the movie without thinking)
But even how much I was craving to sushi, I should've not gone there after this amazing show and watching the best sushi in the world.  I just expected too much and just disappointed what I had... haha
I'm sure in one month not after that movie, if I go to same sushi place, I would like there... But not tonight!! lol Looked good though... I feel bad for the people who work there... :(

Japanese language

Last week my friend from Japan brought so many books for me as souvenirs.
I wasn't a book person even when I was in Japan and after I moved here I only read Japanese when I have email or search something on internet. And I also speak Japanese once in a while.
I didn't think anything about it but when I started to read those books I got, I couldn't stop reading it.
Of course it's because those books are good. Fun and interesting. But also I think I was craving to Japanese. It was like dried sponge is absorbing water. I just read and read Japanese.
It was new experience for me in my life.
That was an happy discovery of myself. I'm glad to be Japanese and enjoy this language.
And it was fun to read many unique Japanese expressions.
Our language is amazing!!

How to Succeed in Business without really trying

How to Succeed in Business without really trying
http://www.howtosucceedbroadway.com/
This is what I saw last week with my friend from Japan.
I didn't know about this show but it was fun musical.
And the main character was Nick Jonas who was idol in America who I didn't know but I saw him on the drama show "SMASH"(which I really like) a few weeks ago so I could recognize him. And also Beau Bridges who was on the show "Brother and Sisters" so I knew him too. But I enjoyed a lot for other actors!! They were so good and it was so classic American musical!!
And I enjoyed more because I have been watching SMASH which is story about musical.

But it was fun to see the teenage girls who is shouting for Nick Jonas.
I felt so old when I saw them... lol

Good Enough To Eat in NYC

I had heard about here many times but I really didn't have chance to have brunch because of my work but a friend of mine came to NYC and we walked around city on my day off.
And accidentally we passed by here.
Good Enough To Eat
http://goodenoughtoeat.com/
We shared Apple pancake and upper west side omelette.
That was perfect choice!!
Both pancake and Omelette were fluffy and I really liked their strawberry butter too.
There were many Japanese tourists were there too. Is this place on guidebook? Maybe that's why:)

shake shack in Battery Park City

I like hamburgers of shake shack but I always went to Madison Square Garden but this time I went to one in Battery Park City finally.
http://shakeshack.com/
It was nice to eat out in the park in summer time but it was cold day so it was nice to be inside!! So we could try peanut butter shake too!! :) It was so American!!
Also the shop was so clean and I really liked there!! And tray they gave us was reminded me Japanese school lunch.

s'mac in NYC

I had a chance to try mac and cheese place the other day.
I liked macaroni and cheese from I was kid but it was kraft one.
But after I moved to NY I could have real mac and cheese several times. And they were different from my image of M&C but I loved it!!
So I was so excited to go there.
s'mac
http://www.smacnyc.com/
The menu was so interesting. They have so many kinds of M&C even Indian flavor, French, and many others. The shop was really small and I went there on Friday night so it was only 7pm but it was packed with people. But most of the people there ate M&C quickly and left soon. So it was really "FAST food".
There were 3 sizes to choose but for me, the smallest one was enough.
We had one of each small size and shared salad. That was good idea.
Baked one by one in the small skillet was cute and fun.
It was interesting experience!! :)

Building on Bond in Brooklyn

There was a cafe where I always wanted to go.
Building on Bond
http://buildingonbond.com/
It's close to my work and when I walked home with random streets, I found there.
It's so cute place and the food was so good too.
In the cafe, there are so many things everywhere but they don't make me feel mess but "cute"!!
And who I went there with was really amazing pastry chefs!!
That was fun lunch, ladies!!

raspberry soda

soup of the day!!

cobb salad. They said it's the most popular menu.
The bacon was so thick and sweet and salty.
It was so big portion but after busy work I could finish all of it!! That much it was so good:)

One year has past.

Already one year has past from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. I remember clearly when I heard that news at work last year.  I was shocked and thought about going back to Japan seriously but everyone helped me and I'm still here. I couldn't do anything but I prayed and loved my  country more than before. It won't be back to the same but is moving on and getting better. Time flies. I should live life with my heart more and more!! And thank you so much my friends and family for supporting me always!!
