Kombucha 2

I just finish making Kombucha.
Because it's not sweet anymore it means Kombucha mother ate all of sugar...
I tasted but it was really nice flavor. Sour and sharp.
And that Kombucha itself is also good but adding just a little bit berry juice made color prettier and taste a little bit sweeter and I liked it too.
Now I let mother sleep for a while but soon I will make another batch!! :)
Thank you Stef for sharing me your mother:)

Burlesque

Last weekend I went to see this movie.
Burlesque!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a4wABX5eJc
The story wasn't so unique but the songs were so fun!!!
And I really like Stanley Tucci!!
He was nice as usual!!
I remember that he was running around in the movie of "Beethoven" and he was cooking in "Big night"...
If you like music and dance, also not want something special but just want to have fun, I think it's good to see it.
Anyway I enjoyed:)

Kombucha

Today I started to make Kombucha for the first time!!!
Last weekend my friend gave me Kombucha mother and today I just got to be ready for glass jar, tea, and sugar... ummmm I can't wait to taste first one but how long should I wait... I need to do many experiments to know how it makes drink.... really interesting...

For Japanese people!!
This is not Kobucha but Kombucha!! Take a look for wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kombucha
In Japanese, it's called "Kochakinoko"(Mushroom tea)

And for non Japanese people!!
We have Kobucha(Kombucha) in Japan which is drink made from Kombu seaweed (kelp).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KombuA little bit salty and it's good to drink with hot water and also you can use for cooking!! It makes good flavor:)

When I came here, I was so surprised that everyone was drinking Kombucha. Because I thought it's seaweed drink... But it wasn't. When I tried Kombucha here for the first time, I was shocked... Because I knew it's not Japanese Kobucha but still I was expecting a little bit salty taste... lol and that taste was a little bit sour and bubbly...

But I love to find this kind of similar word (sounds) in different language....
For example, last week my co-worker told me "he's going back home" in Spanish.
And that day was really heavy rain. So I thought he's talking about umbrella. Like "I'm taking umbrella to go home..." If you know both Spanish and Japanese maybe you will guess what I'm talking about.
"Casa=house" in Spanish and "Kasa=umbrella" in Japanese. I know he doesn't talk Japanese but sometimes I'm surprised that some words have same sounds but different meaning... :)
And when I find these things we share language and laugh a lot:) My favorite moment♥

Also we can't forget about "Sushi" in NY!!!
There are more sushi restaurants in NY than in Japan... :)
I can say some area has sushi restaurants in every corner.
I'm not joking, this is true.

And last Saturday I could go here to have some sushi....
How was it?
It was really good:) I enjoyed a lot both Japanese sushi and American sushi:)

Le Cordon Bleu? lol

It looks like in Japan...but

I can't find this in sushi restaurant in Japan!!
Never ever!!! lol

It's so American!!
Rainbow sushi...:)

And what a long sushi geta?! lol

But they have "Sumiso" too!! :)

Japanese in NY

I can find Japanese things easily in NY.
For example....

This is not in Japanese market but Bed, Bath and Beyond!!!
This surprised me a lot!!!

Origami!!! For Japanese people we need to be careful for "R" sounds!!
oRigami!!! lol

Manga.... not only bookstore but art supply store has "Manga" corner...

In the subway station I found this poster... Japanese chocolatier!!!
